Edema of the interspinous ligament is an imaging expression, mainly on MRI, that refers to the phenomenon of edema caused by increased exudation from the interspinous ligament of the spine due to different pathologic causes. Clinically, edema of the interspinous ligament can be caused by a variety of factors, including spinal trauma such as spinal fracture, degenerative changes of the spine such as intervertebral disc herniation, tumors of the spine, infections, and overexertion. Edema of the interspinous ligament can cause local inflammatory changes in the spine, most of which are aseptic inflammation, and a few of which are inflammation caused by bacteria, which do not necessarily cause symptoms clinically; only serious cases will cause symptoms such as pain and discomfort in the spine, limitation of activities, and even combined with radiating pain and numbness in the lower limbs. If there is any discomfort, go to the hospital in time, and standardize the treatment under the guidance of the doctor.
