Can macular degeneration be treated?

Whether or not macular degeneration can be cured is related to the type of macular degeneration and the severity of the patient’s condition.
There are many different types of macular degeneration, among which central plasma choroidal retinopathy is a self-limiting disease with a better prognosis, and patients with serious conditions can follow the doctor’s instructions to use photodynamic therapy to promote recovery. Patients with macular anterior membrane and macular tear can also improve their vision with timely surgical treatment.
However, there is no effective cure for age-related macular degeneration, macular vitelliform degeneration and other macular degeneration patients. When retinal neovascularization occurs, patients can follow the doctor’s instructions to use medication, such as intravitreal injection of anti-neovascular drugs, such as abciximab, paxil and so on, to improve the visual acuity, but it is not curable in general.
It is recommended that patients with macular degeneration consult a doctor in time to assess their condition and follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
