Weight loss amenorrhea is a manifestation of physical damage caused by excessive weight loss, mostly due to low adipose tissue. For patients with weight loss amenorrhea, the first thing to do is to restore their weight, eat more high protein and high vitamin foods, and eat small amounts of meals to gradually restore their weight. Generally speaking, menstruation can be resumed on its own when the body weight is restored to about 85% of the standardized value. However, due to individual differences, the body weight of each person when resuming menstruation is not the same, and whether menstruation can be resumed when the body weight reaches 85% or above also varies. For patients after weight recovery, if menstruation still does not occur, first of all, progesterone should be applied. If menstruation occurs after injection of progesterone, it means that there is still a certain amount of estrogen in the body, and it belongs to the amenorrhea of the first degree. If the injection of progesterone does not result in menstruation, it means that the level of estrogen in the body is extremely low, which belongs to the amenorrhea of degree II. In this case, estrogen should be used to promote the proliferation of the uterine lining, producing a follicular phase similar to the menstrual cycle, and then progesterone, commonly used, should be used to make the uterine lining change to the luteal phase. After the progesterone is discontinued, the endometrium sheds its bleeding and then menstruation begins to resume. If another treatment is needed at the same time after menstruation has resumed, the cyclical regimen described above can be continued.
