How often to breastfeed a newborn

There is no special restriction on the interval between feedings for newborns. Feeding on demand should be used, i.e. feeding when the child is hungry. If feeding is done on a regular basis, you can feed your baby once every 2-3 hours with a milk volume of about 60-80ml each time. The principle of feeding newborns is on-demand feeding. Usually breastfeeding can be done once in 2-3 hours, or once in 1-2 hours if the baby is born prematurely and weighs <2kg; if the baby is still sleeping for more than 4-5 hours, it is better to wake the baby to feed. When artificial feeding, you need to feed 1 time of water between meals to avoid the case of fire. On the basis of breastfeeding on demand, parents need to gradually develop the habit of regular breastfeeding, gradually reduce the number of night feedings and usual feedings, and then gradually reach the increase of complementary foods and normal eating habits. In addition, the mother should pay attention to relaxation during breastfeeding, keep the environment quiet and comfortable, and keep the baby calm so that choking does not occur when feeding under crying.
