Can a child with cerebral palsy walk?

Whether or not a child with cerebral palsy can walk depends on the degree of cerebral palsy. Mild cerebral palsy is able to walk, while more severe symptoms are less likely to walk.
Cerebral palsy is generally categorized into five grades: Grade I, Grade II, Grade III, Grade IV and Grade V. Grade I and Grade II will not affect the child’s ability to walk independently, but there may be limitations on the distance and posture of the child’s walking, such as toes touching the ground easily and scissor-like stride.
If it is grade Ⅲ and Ⅳ, the ability to walk independently on their own is relatively poor, and they need to walk with the help of assistive devices; if it is grade Ⅴ, the ability to walk on their own is relatively poor, and it may even be difficult to move with the help of assistive devices.
Parents of children with cerebral palsy should pay extra attention to the need for active treatment, rehabilitation training, etc., in order to help children reduce the impact of cerebral palsy.
