Methods of recovering arms and legs from second stroke hemiplegia

There are many ways to recover from second stroke hemiplegia, according to the stage of rehabilitation, common methods include exercise therapy, Chinese medicine rehabilitation physiotherapy, occupational therapy and so on. 1. Early stage: upper limb lifting exercise, weight-bearing of the affected upper limb, functional activities of shoulder and elbow joints of both upper limbs or the hemiplegic side, scapular anterior extension exercise; alternating feet or ankle dorsiflexion exercise of both lower limbs or the hemiplegic side of the affected foot. Standing balance training, weight-bearing on the hemiplegic side (single leg weight-bearing), hip and knee flexion of the able-bodied leg, and gradual transition from supported to unsupported hip and knee. 2. Middle and late stage of recovery: upper limb and hand activities: before training: reduce the tension of upper limb flexor muscles, then carry out active and passive forward extension of the scapula, and at the same time, carry out fine hand movements; practice active knee extension, active knee flexion and ankle dorsiflexion in different knee flexion positions; lower limb weight-bearing training and walking training. If the patient’s ankle dorsiflexion is weak or foot inversion is obvious, bandage or ankle-foot orthosis can be used to make the affected foot to ankle dorsiflexion position to facilitate walking. Meanwhile, functional recovery can also be promoted by physical therapy in Chinese medicine, walking aids, orthotics and other aids. It is recommended that patients seek timely medical consultation and standardized treatment, so as to avoid delaying the condition.
