Eye drops can be used if you have mydriasis, which is an inflammation of the lid gland due to a bacterial infection, caused by Staphylococcus aureus that inflames the lid gland. Usually, anti-inflammatory eye drops such as levofloxacin or tobramycin are used 4-6 times/day, more often to help the disease process improve. In addition, if the degree of mydriasis is severe and the redness is large, oral antibiotics such as cephalosporin or amoxicillin can be given to shorten the course of mydriasis and to reduce the redness and pain more quickly.
