What is a cervical smear

Cervical smear, also known as cervical TCT, is a cancer screening test for cervical cancer, also called cervical fluid-based thin layer cytology. The specific procedure is to use a small soft brush to remove cells from the surface of the cervix, and then fix this cell in a fine package of fluid and send it to the pathology department for examination. Generally, there are several kinds of hints in the report of cervical TCT: the first one is normal cells; the second one is inflammatory cells; the third one is precancerous cells; the fourth one is cervical cancer cells. At present, cervical TCT is a cervical cancer screening strongly advocated in China, which is not only easy to operate but also has a high accuracy rate. Married women are usually recommended to have cervical TCT once a year, and the time of the next review will be determined according to different test results. If there is any problem with the results, the test should be repeated after six months with medication or symptomatic treatment. If there is no problem, annual cancer screening is sufficient.
