Whether gastric polyp will be cancerous or not is decided according to its type: 1. Inflammatory polyp: inflammatory hyperplasia caused by inflammation, mainly caused by inflammatory cell proliferation, usually will not be cancerous; 2. Hyperplastic polyp: caused by epithelial hyperplasia of gastric recesses, which does not lead to abnormal proliferation, cell differentiation status is better, usually will not be cancerous; however, with the growth of tumors in proliferative polyp, there may be gene mutation, and there exists 1%-5% cancerous rate; 3. Adenomatous polyp: caused by hyperplasia of glands and glandular epithelium, accompanied by atrophy and intestinal base, the cells may appear heterogeneous hyperplasia or atypical hyperplasia, and the rate of cancerous transformation is higher, which is 10%-60%; 4. Miscegenated polyp: caused by genetic factors, and most of them have the tendency of cancerous transformation.
