The choice of medication for cough variant asthma is based on the degree of the condition, and there is no such thing as the fastest results. Medications such as salmeterol may be taken for mild symptoms, inhaled budesonide for moderate symptoms, and theophylline for severe symptoms. Cough variant asthma is a respiratory disease in which coughing is the only or main symptom and can be improved by anti-asthma treatment. The following medications are available for the severity of the disease progression: 1. Theophylline can reduce smooth muscle tone, airway dilation, note that it is advisable to take theophylline after meals to reduce gastrointestinal irritation.
