How long does it take for MDS to turn into acute leukemia?

The time it takes for MDS to transform into acute leukemia is uncertain and is related to the stage of disease progression and the effectiveness of treatment. It generally takes about 2 years for high-risk MDS to progress to acute leukemia. There are 3 possible outcomes for MDS: 1. MDS can be clinically cured if the treatment effect is good and the symptoms disappear after treatment and the bone marrow image and so on return to normal. Therefore, it usually will not be transformed into acute leukemia. 2.MDS is in abnormal proliferation of bone marrow for a long time, through treatment, some patients have good effect and their condition is controlled; some patients have malignant changes, i.e. transformed into acute leukemia. 3. MDS is malignant due to bleeding, infection, etc. This stage usually takes about 2 years. It should be noted that MDS can be controlled through “early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment”, and patients are advised to establish confidence in treatment.
