Wen Jing Tang can warm the meridians and dissipate cold (warming the meridians of the body to get rid of cold in the body), nourish the blood and eliminate blood stasis, and is used as a main treatment for coldness in the Chong Ren vein (a deficiency of yang qi that does not allow warming of the Chong Ren vein and the Ren vein), and for signs of blood stasis and obstruction. There is no clear evidence that Wen Jing Tang can treat itchy skin.
Wen Jing Tang is from “The Essentials of the Golden Chamber”. It is a blood regulating agent, and its efficacy is to warm the menstruation, dissipate cold, nourish blood and dispel blood stasis. It is used for treating the symptoms of coldness and deficiency of Chong Ren, blood stasis and obstruction of blood. The symptoms include more than one leakage, dark and lumpy blood, poor dribbling, or menstruation that is ahead of or delayed, or more than one month late.
The symptoms include dark and lumpy blood, or menstruation overrunning or delayed, or overdue. Or menstruation in January, or menstruation stopping, fullness in the abdomen, fever in the evening, hot hands (irritability and sultriness), dryness of the lips and mouth, dark red tongue, and a fine and astringent pulse. It also treats cold uterus in women with prolonged infertility.
Itching of the skin may be caused by factors such as blood-heat, wind-dryness, damp-heat, etc. There are no clinical reports stating that Wen Jing Tang can be used to treat itching of the skin.
