1. General treatment: patients with asymptomatic fibroids, especially those who are close to menopause, do not need special treatment, and can go to the hospital for rechecking regularly, and most of the patients’ fibroids will gradually shrink and subside after menopause.
2. Drug treatment: it is suitable for patients who cannot be operated; after multiple uterine fibroids operation, to prevent recurrence; leiomyosarcoma patients can reduce the volume of leiomyosarcoma before pregnancy, to prepare for pregnancy and so on. Commonly used drugs to reduce the volume of fibroid are mifepristone and treprostinil acetate.
3. Surgery: it is suitable for patients with infertility and repeated miscarriage caused by leiomyoma; patients with reproductive requirements whose leiomyoma diameter is ≥4cm; patients with leiomyoma continuing to grow after menopause and suspected of malignant transformation. For those who have fertility requirements, myomectomy can be chosen; for those who do not need to retain fertility function or suspect malignant changes, hysterectomy can be adopted.
The prognosis of multiple uterine fibroids is better after active treatment.
