I. Overview
Uterine fibroids, also known as uterine smooth muscle tumors, are the most common type of benign tumors of the female genitalia. Most of them are asymptomatic, but a few of them show vaginal bleeding, abdominal masses and pressure symptoms. It can be painful in case of torsion or other conditions. Multiple uterine fibroids are common. The exact cause of this disease is unknown, and modern Western medicine adopts sex hormone or surgical treatment, but there is no other ideal treatment.
The early reports of modern acupuncture treatment for this disease were seen in the mid-1950s, and in the early 1960s there were also observations of more than 100 cases with large samples, using a combination of fire acupuncture at the A-Yi point and acupuncture at the Yuan Dao point, with good results.
Since the 1980s, a set of proven experience has been further summarized. In diagnosis, auricular palpation is used to diagnose uterine fibroids by palpating with a metal rod at bilateral uterine and endocrine points, and any subcutaneous tissue with a 1 mm thick cord that does not disappear when touched is considered positive for palpation. Through the observation of 70 patients, the positive compliance rate was over 90%. Therefore, this method is considered to have some diagnostic value. In the treatment, the application of body acupuncture mainly, together with ear acupuncture, also has significant effect.
II. Treatment
1.Body acupuncture (one)
(a) acupuncture points
Main points: uterus, qu bone, transverse bone.
Supporting points: subcortical (ear points), Sanyinjiao, secondary s, Blood Sea, Kidney Yu, and Fuyao.
(II) Treatment
Take 1 to 2 main points at a time, alternating with additional matching points as appropriate. Oblique stabbing of 0.8-1.0 inch at the uterus point, straight stabbing of 0.6-0.8 inch at both the qu bone and the transverse bone to obtain qi, and applying the same techniques as the main points, except for the ear points, which are applied with buried needles or magnetic beads. The body points are taken bilaterally, and the ear points are taken unilaterally in rotation. The needle is left in place for 15-20 minutes. Acupuncture every other day, 10 times for a course of treatment. Ear acupuncture points are buried or applied twice a week, 15 times for a course of treatment.
(C) efficacy evaluation
Criteria for differentiation of efficacy: cured: the uterine fibroids have all disappeared by ultrasound; basically cured: the volume of uterine fibroids has been reduced by more than 2/3; effective: the volume of uterine fibroids has been reduced by less than 2/3; ineffective: the volume has not been reduced before and after treatment.
A total of 346 cases were treated, 288 cases (83.2%) were cured, 39 cases (11.3%) were basically cured, and 19 cases (5.5%) were effective, with a total efficiency of 100%. Among the treated fibroids, the largest was as big as a child’s head and the smallest was as big as an egg yolk.
2.Body acupuncture (two)
(A) acupuncture points
Main acupuncture points: Ah Yes point, Nei Guan, Zhao Hai.
Location of the A-Yi point: the body of the tumor.
(B) treatment method
The upper points are taken, and the body points are selected bilaterally. First, the patient to empty the urine, a is point needles 3 ~ 4 needles, straight stab into 0.6 ~ 0.8 inch; Nei Guan, Shouhai conventional acupuncture, with a flat complementary and flat diarrhea technique, stay acupuncture 15 ~ 30 minutes, every other day once, 7 times for a course of treatment. The treatment interval is 5 days.
(C) Evaluation of efficacy
A total of 20 cases, the results were cured 15 cases, 3 cases of significant effect, 2 cases of effective, the overall efficiency of 100%.
3.Electro-acupuncture
(I) Acupuncture points
Main acupuncture points: Guan Yuan, Zi Gong, and Chibian.
Supporting points: Qihai, Blood Sea, Yanglingquan, Sanyinjiao.
(B) Treatment method
Sterilize the acupuncture point locally, and stab the point directly with a No. 32 milli-needle 2 inches. After obtaining qi, the electroacupuncture instrument was connected, with continuous wave, output frequency of 70 Hz, each stimulation for 10 minutes, once a day, 15 times as a course of treatment. 7 days rest between courses.
(C) Evaluation of efficacy
A total of 42 cases treated with the above method, the results were cured 33 cases, effective 9 cases, the efficiency of 100%.
4.Fire acupuncture
(I) Acupuncture points
Main acupoints: Zhongji, Guangyuan, Doushu, Guilai, Ganggen.
Supporting points: Quchi, Hegu, Foot Sanli, Kidney Yu.
(B) Treatment
The main point and the supporting point Kidney Yu are treated with fire acupuncture, and the rest with milli-needle method. The main points are taken each time, and the supporting points are added as appropriate. Fire needle is 2 inches long, thick 0.8 mm tungsten-manganese alloy needle, the needle tip in the alcohol lamp flame 1 cm heated for about 5 seconds, to the first 3 cm of the needle body is bright red, the needle quickly into the acupuncture point, and then quickly out of the needle, the whole process should be completed within 1 second. The depth of the needle is 3 cm for the abdominal points and 1,5 cm for the kidney points and the root of the plankton. 15 minutes of warm moxibustion can be added to the abdominal points. The remaining points are treated with the laxative method, and the needles are retained for 15-20 minutes. The treatment should be carried out 3 times a week, 12 times a course of treatment, generally three courses of treatment are required.
(C) Evaluation of efficacy
A total of 50 cases were treated, 7 cases were cured, 18 cases were apparently effective, 17 cases were effective, and 8 cases were ineffective, with an overall efficiency of 84%.
