The dangers of high blood lipids

High blood lipids are becoming more and more common nowadays, and the risks are becoming more and more important to the general population. The most common danger of high blood lipids is that they can lead to lipid deposits in the intima of arteries throughout the body. This will speed up the process of forming atherosclerosis, making the blood vessels more and more narrow. The gradual aggravation of atherosclerosis will make the blood vessels less elastic and narrow, which will increase the risk of stroke, coronary heart disease, and even some cases of vascular embolism. Most patients with cerebral infarction and coronary artery disease have significantly higher cholesterol and LDL, and lower HDL. Due to excessive high-fat diets or genetic defects in lipid metabolism, it is difficult to remove excess cholesterol, triglycerides and corresponding neutral lipoproteins from the circulation. Therefore, excessive lipids in the blood vessels for a long time will penetrate into the vessel walls and cause atherosclerosis. Although the risk of stroke and coronary heart disease is not completely certain, it is believed that high blood lipid levels can cause atherosclerosis. However, it is believed that there is a close relationship between high lipid levels and the development of vascular disease.
