Poria is the dried mycelium of Poria cocos, which has the efficacy of inducing water and seeping dampness, strengthening the spleen and tranquilizing the heart, and it can be used for diseases such as deficiency of the spleen with low food intake, loose stools (thin and unshaped feces) and diarrhea, uneasiness of the heart and mind, edema with low urination, and palpitation and insomnia.
Ophiopogon is the tuberous root of Ophiopogon, family Liliaceae, with the effect of nourishing yin, moistening the lungs and clearing the heart, which can be used for the treatment of yin deficiency, coughing, dry cough, gastric yin insufficiency (insufficient yin fluid in the stomach), heartburn and insomnia, and other conditions.
