Which is better, CTA or MRI?

Which is better, CTA (CT angiography) or MRI, needs to be chosen based on the patient’s condition and the nature of the disease, and there is no direct comparison between the two. Generally speaking CTA is preferred for vascular diseases and MRI for soft tissue diseases. 1. CTA: CTA is better than MRI for cerebrovascular imaging because it can selectively not present the skin, muscle, bone and soft tissue structures that do not want to be seen, and only show the patient’s blood vessel alignment and branching. Therefore, CTA can be used when a patient is suspected of having cerebrovascular disease. 2. MRI: MRI is water-based imaging, which does not require radiation or injection of contrast material, so it is a little less damaging than CTA. Moreover, MRI has better imaging effect on soft tissues, which can clearly see the structure of soft tissues and clarify the scope and nature of soft tissue lesions, so it is commonly used in the examination of substantive brain lesions.
