Scattered longitudinally distributed foci of erosions in the gastric antrum require biopsy to further define the nature of the lesion. Gastric sinus erosion usually requires biopsy, because biopsy can show whether it is benign or malignant, and can determine the nature of the pathology. The purpose of the biopsy is to examine and check whether the celiac lesion is atrophic, enteric, or atypical hyperplasia, and to guide the patient’s next step in treatment and follow-up. If the gastric erosion foci are located in the gastric angle, gastric sinus and gastric cardia, which are easy to develop gastric cancer, and the erosion foci are relatively large, especially the depressed erosion foci, which are highly suspected of early gastric cancer, then it is recommended to take a biopsy in this case. Because the nature of the erosion found under endoscopy cannot be judged solely by the microscopic manifestation, biopsy should be perfected and determined with the assistance of pathological examination.
