There are various dosage forms of Yupingfeng, derived from the formula Yupingfengsan, which is presented here as an example of the proprietary Chinese medicine Yupingfengsan. Yupingfeng San has the effects of consolidating the surface to stop sweating (stopping sweating by consolidating the muscle surface) and benefiting Qi. It is used to treat sweating from a deficiency of the surface (involuntary sweating during the day, aggravated by the slightest movement of the sweat). The main components of Jade Ping Feng San are Astragalus, Atractylodes Macrocephalae and Fenghuang. It can benefit the qi, consolidate the surface and restrain sweating. It is often used in the treatment of symptoms such as spontaneous sweating and windiness, weakness and susceptibility to colds, and pallor (white and lack of luster). It should not be used in cases of external spontaneous sweating or night sweating due to yin deficiency (sweating abnormally after going to sleep but stops after waking up). During the period of taking the medicine, it is not recommended to consume oily, cold, spicy and stimulating food. This product belongs to the category of tonic drugs and is suitable to be taken before meals.
