Does lidocaine treat tinnitus

Lidocaine is a tinnitus suppressant that has a suppressive effect on tinnitus, and it is thought to act centrally. Lidocaine is a membrane stabilizer that has the effect of blocking sodium channels, so it can stop the abnormal excitatory activity of the central auditory nerve that has a lesion caused by it, thus reducing the occurrence of tinnitus. However, there is a range of tinnitus reduction or suppression, and it is not effective in all cases of tinnitus. Its duration of action is relatively short, but in some patients with severe tinnitus, if the tinnitus is reduced, so that they can get a great satisfaction. The usual therapeutic dose of lidocaine is usually 1-2 mg/kg in 1% saline slowly administered intravenously, usually in a course of 7 days.
