Generally keloid scars are formed after the skin has undergone trauma, due to the massive proliferation of connective tissue forming excessive growth of the scar beyond the original scar and protruding from the skin. The causes of scar formation include burns, trauma and other factors. A few scars are of medical origin (i.e. scars left after certain facial surgeries). Scars affect a person’s beauty and bodily functions and can be effectively repaired through treatment. In the treatment of scars, we must pay attention to the following aspects: 1. Skin cleaning When a burn wound is just healed, there are still a small amount of secretions and scabs, and bacteria are prone to rapid reproduction, plus the epidermis is thin and tender, and the structure and function are not perfect, so infection and breakage can easily occur. 2. Early prevention As the duration of different scars is different, ranging from 3 months to 2 years, most of them in about half a year. However, some patients have no patience or improper methods, which may cause scar proliferation and contracture. 3. Grasp the treatment time For scar contracture in functional parts, such as hand scars, eye scars, jaw and neck scars, surgery should be performed as early as possible after the scars are stabilized, especially for children, who should be treated earlier and can be reshaped appropriately in advance. 4. Avoid excessive friction Scar epidermal structure and function are not perfect, epidermis is more easily damaged, and some inappropriate treatment may aggravate the damage.
