The simultaneous appearance of both symptoms of insomnia as well as cardiac pain is to be considered as two possibilities: the first may be primary cardiac disease, where the patient’s insomnia is a collateral symptom due to a painful stress state, in which case there is a risk of sudden death if the cardiac disease is lethal such as acute myocardial infarction or malignant arrhythmia, if not treated promptly. The second condition is a symptom of chest pain caused by abnormal neurohumoral adjustment induced by insomnia. In this case, chest pain is mainly manifested by disturbance of vegetative regulation. If the duration of insomnia is short, the symptoms will generally be gradually relieved by adjusting the rest time and sleep quality, but if the insomnia is prolonged, it may lead to organic changes of the heart and there is a certain risk of death. In clinical work, there is a certain atypicality of the symptoms of angina pectoris, so whenever there is chest pain, chest tightness and other symptoms, it is recommended to have an ECG examination first to avoid missed diagnosis and misdiagnosis.
