How soon to resume normal diet after gallstones surgery

Usually, normal diet can be resumed about a week after gallstone surgery, but if postoperative discomfort occurs, this time needs to be extended appropriately. At present, laparoscopic cholecystectomy is often used to treat gallbladder stones, which is less invasive and has a faster recovery. Patients can eat liquid food after the postoperative anal discharge, and after eating, they need to observe whether abdominal distension, abdominal pain and other abdominal discomfort occurs. After the patient has normal bowel movements, he can gradually transition to a semi-liquid, normal diet, which takes about one week. If patients experience any significant discomfort during the transition period, they should contact the doctor in charge in time to rule out any abnormalities before gradually transitioning to a normal diet. Patients should avoid eating too much fried, greasy or high cholesterol food after surgery, and are advised to eat a light diet, avoid overeating, and participate in physical exercise appropriately.
