What are the dangers of indiscriminate supplementation in children?

Many parents spoil their children, fearing that they are malnourished, so that not only every day milk plus eggs, but also often give children to take ginseng royal jelly, pollen, and even antler and other tonic, it can be said that “pity the parents”. In fact, the healthy children are not good for their growth and development. It is easy to lead to precocious sexual maturity. Medically, the advancement of gonadal development in children is called “precocious sexual maturity”, and there is a difference between true and false sexual maturity, which can be caused by central tumor, infection, cranio-cerebral
True precocious puberty can be caused by central tumor, infection, cranio-cerebral trauma, etc.; pseudo-precocious puberty is mostly caused by ovarian, testicular tumor, adrenal cortical tumor or adenoma. In clinical practice, pediatricians have found that inappropriate administration of tonic drugs to children is an important cause of pseudoprecocious puberty that cannot be ignored. Although ginseng, ginseng royal jelly, pollen, chicken embryo baby vegetation and other nutritional health foods contain a variety of nutrients that can enhance physical fitness and improve human immune function, they also contain gonadotropins and human hormones – estradiol and testosterone. If children take these supplements for a long time, too many sex hormones will enter their bodies, which will undoubtedly lead to a series of premature sexual maturity. For example, girls’ breasts develop significantly before the age of 8, the clitoris increases in size, and menstruation occurs before the age of 11; boys’ scrotum and testicles increase in size, the penis grows thicker and easier to erect, and the sweat hair around the lips becomes thicker and longer. Ginseng royal jelly, bee milk and other tonic products have the effect of enhancing appetite and promoting digestion, so children eat a lot of food, resulting in excess nutrition, leading to obesity. Obese children are prone to knee valgus (or entropion) and flat feet, and they have low body resistance and are prone to upper respiratory infections, and have increased chances of developing hypertension, coronary heart disease, fatty liver and diabetes in adulthood. Studies have confirmed that continuous use of ginseng can cause excitement, insomnia, neurosis and “fire” phenomena such as nosebleeds, oral mucosa and ulcers. Children are at the stage of growth and development, and the functions of their organs and tissues are not yet healthy and perfect, so they are very sensitive to the effective effects of ginseng. Children who take ginseng and pollen supplements in excess for a long time will have an excessive amount of sex hormones in their bodies, which will lead to precocious sexual maturity, as well as early fusion of bones and early bone age, resulting in short stature despite the recent growth acceleration. Medical research has concluded that a person’s natural lifespan is 5-7 times his developmental maturity, and early maturity can easily lead to premature aging and shortened lifespan. Therefore, parents should not give supplements to healthy children at will. The food industry should also not casually add ingredients with ginseng, royal jelly, pollen and animal embryo preparations to food that affect the growth and development of children. Of course, for those children who are malnourished, stunted or have entered puberty, they can take them appropriately to promote their growth and development, but they must be taken correctly under the guidance of a doctor, and never indiscriminately on their own.
