What Chinese medicines are used to treat chronic appendicitis?

Chronic appendicitis cannot be cured by taking herbal medicines. Chronic appendicitis requires surgical removal of the appendix when the diagnosis is clear.
Most cases of chronic appendicitis are transformed from acute appendicitis, while a few cases show a chronic process from the beginning. Chronic appendicitis is characterized by inflammatory cells that are predominantly lymphocytes and eosinophils. In addition, fibrous tissue proliferation in the appendix results in thickening or even occlusion of the lumen, which prevents the appendix from emptying and results in pain and other symptoms.
Patients with chronic appendicitis often have a history of acute appendicitis and often present with right lower abdominal pain. Signs include tenderness at the Maier’s point, and barium X-ray and CT scan are helpful in diagnosis.
Chronic appendicitis requires surgical removal of the diseased appendix after diagnosis and is routinely confirmed by sending a pathologic biopsy. Traditional Chinese medicine is not a cure and there is still a possibility of recurrence.
