Is it serious to have a mid 33 year old with a critical risk for Down screening?

The critical risk of Down screening in the mid 33’s is not serious. Down screening is an important maternity test during the 15-20 weeks of mid-pregnancy in which blood is drawn to test the probability of the fetus having trisomy 18, trisomy 21 and open neural tube defects. The results of the Down screening are categorized as low risk, high risk and critical risk, which is defined as being in the low risk category. If the results for trisomy 21 and trisomy 18 are critical risk, a non-invasive DNA test can be done to determine if there is a problem with the fetus. If the non-invasive DNA result suggests a low risk, the fetus is usually fine, so most Down’s syndrome screening for critical risk is fine. Pregnant women are advised to keep a good mindset, strengthen nutrition in their diet, pay attention to daily rest, and have regular prenatal checkups.
