When to get pneumonia vaccine

The timing of pneumonia vaccination is closely related to the valence of the vaccine. Generally, the 7-valent pneumonia vaccine is given after 3 months of age, the 13-valent pneumonia vaccine after 2 months of age, and the 23-valent pneumonia vaccine needs to be given after 2 years of age. Pneumonia vaccine is a vaccine against Streptococcus pneumoniae infection and is mainly used for children and elderly people with low immunity. In general, 23-valent pneumonia vaccine is given to children older than 2 years of age and older adults, 13-valent pneumonia vaccine is given to children between 2 months and 2 years of age, and 7-valent pneumonia vaccine is currently used relatively infrequently in clinical practice. Usually, protective antibodies are produced 2-3 weeks after pneumonia vaccination and last for about 3-5 years, so the vaccination can be repeated after 3-5 years. In addition, if a patient cannot receive the pneumonia vaccine while he or she is suffering from a cold or pneumonia, the vaccination needs to be administered after the body has fully recovered.
