What is the cause of high blood white blood cell count?

High blood white blood cell counts are most commonly seen in infectious diseases, where bacterial infections can cause elevated white blood cells, resulting in significantly higher than normal blood white blood cells, and elevated neutrophils. The normal human white blood cell count is between (4.0-10.0)x10^9/L. If the white blood cell is elevated, it is seen in infectious diseases such as urinary tract infection, pyelonephritis, urinary tract infective stones, which can cause feverish symptoms of infection and can also cause elevated white blood cells. When a patient has acute prostatitis, it can also cause an elevated white blood cell count. When a patient develops acute epididymitis, a high white blood cell count may also occur.
