Ultrasonic cataract extraction combined with IOL implantation is one of the most common surgeries performed. The surgical equipment and technology are quite mature, and the preparation before surgery and post-surgery treatment, including various examinations and medication, are all standardized and performed according to the procedure. Ultrasonic cataract surgery is a minimally invasive surgery, with small incisions and no sutures. The surgery is performed under surface anesthesia with eye drops, and the cloudy nucleus and cortex of the lens are smashed by ultrasonic emulsification and aspirated by special imported instruments.
For patients with good fundus conditions and small corneal astigmatism, the majority of patients have a postoperative distance vision of 0.7 or higher. Generally, stable vision is achieved 1 month after surgery, and eye drops and eye ointments can be stopped. Due to the individual differences of patients, some discomfort may occur after surgery. For example, dryness and foreign body sensation in the operated eye, change in color of seeing things, clear vision at a distance but unclear vision at a near distance, etc. Most of the cases can be relieved and gradually improved after adaptation, medication and lens prescription. Most of the IOL eyes do not have the ability to adjust, so they usually need to wear presbyopic glasses to see clearly in the distance and near, usually one month after the surgery.
