Surgical treatment of hand deformity after burn injury

Deformities and defects caused by burn trauma to the hand are one of the most common diseases in plastic surgery clinics, seriously affecting the quality of life of patients, and it is advisable to treat them as early as possible to restore the function and appearance of the hand as soon as possible. The treatment includes scar release, tendon repair, bone and joint repositioning, defective finger reconstruction and so on. On the basis of this treatment, skin grafting or flap repair is used to repair the defective wound to achieve functional and cosmetic reconstruction. The advantages of flap repair over skin grafting: 1, the skin piece is prone to contracture after skin grafting, while no late contracture occurs after flap repair, and the hand function can be restored to the maximum; 2, for cases with deep bones, tendons, nerves, blood vessels and other important tissues exposed after scar release, only flap repair can be adopted; 3, the color and texture of flap repair is better than that of skin grafting.
