There is no absolute best way to exercise for spinal stenosis, the main thing is to protect the lumbar spine by exercising the muscle strength of the lower back. Specific methods include moderate aerobic exercise, straight leg raise training, hip bridge exercise, and five-point support training.
1. Moderate aerobic exercise: such as walking backwards, playing Tai Chi, swimming and other sports, can enhance the patient’s cardiopulmonary function and muscle strength, enhance the vertebral toughness, relieve symptoms.
2. Straight leg elevation training: take the lying position, the waist should be close to the bed, and then let the legs alternately do the elevation, put down the action, as far as possible, elevated to the position of 90 degrees with the body, can be repeated.
3. Hip bridge exercise: lie on your back, bend your knees at 90 degrees, push your hips upward to lift your body, tighten your core, and keep your pelvis from exceeding the line between your shoulder and knee joints.
4. Five-point support training: the patient bends the knees and lies flat, using both feet, elbows and head as support, lifting the waist and buttocks as high as possible, insisting on 5~10 seconds and then relaxing, and after a short rest, performing the exercise again.
Rehabilitation exercises for patients with spinal stenosis can only serve to alleviate the symptoms and cannot cure the disease. It is recommended that patients seek medical attention in a timely manner, and carry out treatment and rehabilitation exercises under the guidance of a doctor.
