The probability of high blood pressure is high for fat or thin

Obese individuals have a high probability of hypertension, which is associated with a variety of factors as a result of the interaction of genetic susceptibility and environmental factors. However, overweight and obesity are important risk factors for elevated hypertension. The prevalence of hypertension in obese individuals is 5-6 times higher than that in normal weight individuals. According to the results of a follow-up study on the relationship between overweight and obesity and the development of hypertension in Chinese adults, the risk of developing hypertension in the overweight and obese group was found to be 1.16-1.28 times higher than that in the normal weight group as body mass index increased. One of the lifestyle interventions for hypertension is recommended for obese individuals to lose weight and control their body weight. Maintaining an appropriate body weight is beneficial for lowering blood pressure and can prevent or delay the onset of hypertension.
