Baby intussusception can recur after air repositioning.
Intussusception is a condition in which part of the intestinal tube is lodged into the neighboring intestinal lumen, causing obstruction to the passage of intestinal contents. The cause of acute intussusception is unclear and may be due to a variety of causes such as intestinal spasms and viral infections. Chronic recurrent intussusception is associated with organic intestinal lesions such as intestinal polyps and diverticula.
Air-enema repositioning is a conservative treatment for intussusception, but it is difficult to prevent recurrence of intussusception after air-enema repositioning in children with persistent etiology. Therefore, surgical removal of the cause of intussusception that is clearly due to organic intestinal lesions may be a better option to prevent recurrence of intussusception.
