Is hiccups indigestion?

Hiccups are a symptom of indigestion. Indigestion includes abdominal pain, bloating, early satiety, belching, and increased exhaustion, and excludes organic diseases with recurrent episodes lasting more than a month. Diseases that can cause this symptom include chronic gastritis, chronic pancreatitis, chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and hypothyroidism, as well as functional indigestion caused by poisoning, emotional stress, anxiety, and gastrointestinal tract motility disorders. Hiccups are also one of the clinical manifestations of GERD. The most typical symptoms are heartburn and reflux, which often occur about an hour after a meal, and are exacerbated by the action of lying down and doing bending movements that increase the pressure on the abdomen. Hiccups can also be associated with excessive mental stress, poor eating habits such as eating potatoes and sweet potatoes, and sedentary and lack of activity are also among the causes.
