How to relieve itching after hemorrhoid surgery

After hemorrhoid surgery because of anal dampness as well as perianal discharge, some patients are allergic to medications that can cause anal itching. This can be relieved with sitz baths, water rinses, and perianal application of glyburide or hemorrhoidal cream. Most patients can relieve the itching with warm sitz baths and perianal wound dressing changes. If the itching is caused by a medication, this medication should be discontinued. If the perianal area is more red and the dermatitis is more pronounced, symptomatic treatment with drugs such as glyburide and fusidic acid cream is used to relieve the itching.
