Jaw edema after tongue tie surgery is usually iced on the day of surgery if it is a normal postoperative reaction. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic medications can be taken to reduce the edema. If an infection is present, then drain the pus if necessary.
1. After tongue tie surgery, local tissue fluid exudation, it is possible to appear chin edema, this is a normal reaction. This is a normal reaction and is usually not accompanied by pain. On the day of surgery, you can intermittently apply ice packs to the chin to reduce the edema afterwards. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and analgesic drugs, such as ibuprofen, can also be used to reduce edema. The medication should be used under doctor’s supervision.
2. If there is an infection, the chin will be red and swollen, with pain and pus, then the treatment mainly consists of drainage of pus, oral antibiotics such as cephalosporin.
