There are more debates about vaccines, some people are against vaccination, some people are against all self-funded vaccines, some people are against booster vaccines, I commented some views, and then I found that we all have our own opinions and it is difficult to convince each other, everyone is looking at things from their own standpoint, and there is no absolute right or wrong. But from the perspective of society as a whole, I think vaccines are indeed the greatest manifestation of human civilization and the most important contribution to the progress of human health. In recent years, measles has continued to be highly prevalent in Beijing. China’s once-promised plan to eliminate measles by 2012 has also failed completely, and the reason for this failure is because of some small, fresh anti-vaccine campaign. Because China’s booster immunization policy for measles in 2009 led to a significant decrease in the incidence of measles that year and in 2010, eliminating measles is not a dream, but entirely possible if we can stick to it, and by sticking to it for a few years, children in the future may never have to be vaccinated against measles again. In 2014, 2,391 measles cases were reported in Beijing, an increase of 323.19% over 2013, and the measles epidemic continued its upward trend in January 2015. From January 1-21, 2015, 68 measles cases have been reported in Beijing, an increase of 142.9% over the same period last year (28 cases), plus 44 cases of measles from other provinces that came to Beijing for consultation. Surveillance data from the Beijing CDC over the years show that the epidemic of measles in Beijing is characterized by a gradual increase in the number of cases starting in January and reaching a seasonal peak in April and May. Among the measles cases in Beijing in January this year, adult and child cases each accounted for half of the cases; 23.5% of the children were between the ages of August and 14, and 26.5% were under the age of 8 months. The majority of cases from other provinces were children (84.1 percent). Measles vaccination can be a good preventive measure against measles. To protect the health of the general public and children, Beijing provides three free doses of measles-containing vaccine for children under 6 years old. From March to May each year, migrant workers can be vaccinated against measles for free. In addition to vaccination, good personal protection is also an effective way to prevent measles. Doctors remind the public that: 1. Measles is a respiratory infection that is highly transmissible and is more likely to spread in crowded, airless environments. It is recommended that all types of patients visiting hospitals, especially pediatric patients, wear a mask when entering the treatment facility. 2. Timely vaccination is the key to protecting children’s health, so parents must bring their children for measles vaccination in a timely manner according to the appointment time. If a child is found to have missed a vaccination, go to the vaccination clinic as soon as possible to get a replacement vaccination. 3. If you find yourself with symptoms such as fever, red rash and cough, go to the hospital as soon as possible and it is recommended that you take the initiative to visit the fever clinic and wear a mask. If diagnosed with measles, patients should be hospitalized or isolated at home for rest and treatment according to medical advice to prevent transmitting the virus to their own family members or co-workers. And follow the recommendations of health prevention personnel to get measles vaccination in a timely manner for people at risk who are in close contact with each other.
