In traditional Chinese medicine, there is no concept of easy to swell body, mostly considered as phlegm-damp body or Yang deficiency body, such as the symptoms of swelling recommended under the guidance of the doctor to take the Yue maidservant and artichoke soup, solid spleen drink and other treatments.
People with phlegm-dampness constitution usually have obesity, abdominal fullness, chest tightness, phlegm, easy to feel sleepy, heavy limbs, and white and greasy tongue; people with yang-deficiency constitution usually have pale face, weak breath, easy to get tired, fear of cold, cold limbs, and swollen limbs.
Yue maidservant plus artichoke soup has the efficacy of dispersing wind and draining heat, sweating and inducing diuresis, and is often used in the treatment of swelling of the whole body or face, fever, malignant wind, and difficulty in urination. It is not recommended to be taken if one has wind-cold or flu, and pregnant women should be cautious in taking it.
Spleen Drink has the efficacy of warming yang, strengthening the spleen, promoting qi and inducing diuresis, and is often used in the treatment of edema of the lower body caused by deficiency of spleen yang and internal accumulation of water-dampness, low volume of urine, diarrhea, distension of the chest and abdomen, and heaviness and coldness of the limbs. It is forbidden to take it if the edema starts from the head and face.
