Yuan Zhi is a traditional Chinese medicine, commonly used for its effects of calming the mind, dispelling phlegm and eliminating swelling. In clinical practice, it mainly treats some diseases of the heart, kidney and lung meridians, more commonly insomnia and dreaminess caused by heart and kidney disorders, as well as forgetfulness, palpitations and trance; cough and phlegm discomfort in the lungs; and swelling and pain in the breasts, as well as some skin diseases. In clinical practice, Farmer’s Chi can be used to treat insomnia and adjust the body’s immunity. Yuan Zhi is also useful in gynecology, for example, to produce excitement in the uterus, which is useful in treating uterus-related disorders. In the process of application, Yuan Zhi is often combined with other drugs, including Yu Jin and Angelica.
