Myasthenia gravis, as the name implies, means that the patient has weak muscles and is easily fatigued. About 30% of patients have thymoma, 40%-60% have thymic hypertrophy, and more than 75% have central hyperplasia of thymic tissue. Zhou was young and strong, but unfortunately suffered from this disease. The action of turning over in bed, which normal people can do without special attention, was very difficult for him; his eyes were only half open. After careful study of his condition, we operated on him on April 12, and the patient’s thymus gland was successfully removed in less than an hour. The patient woke up immediately after the operation and after several days of observation, the patient recovered well and was able to move around on his own, and his eyes were significantly “prettier” than before. Thymectomy, as the only cure for myasthenia gravis, has been used more and more frequently in patients with satisfactory results. This is a new start in life for patients with myasthenia gravis.
