Separation of the rectus abdominis muscle is generally the appearance of the rectus abdominis muscle on both sides of the abdominal wall separating from the white line position of the abdomen to the sides.
Usually, the separation of the rectus abdominis muscle is due to dilation and extension of the abdominal wall, resulting in the separation of the rectus abdominis muscle from the white line to the sides, and the etiology of this condition is usually related to obesity, multiple pregnancies, and multiple births. As a result of the weak abdominal muscles and laxity of the abdominal wall, the white line of the patient’s abdomen thins and the umbilical cord is particularly vulnerable, resulting in a localized bulge that looks like an umbilical hernia. Accompanying symptoms include low back pain, pelvic organ prolapse, and urinary incontinence.
For patients with diastasis recti separation, exercise therapy and surgical treatments such as abdominal breathing training, abdominal and pelvic floor muscle training, abdominoplasty, diastasis recti separation repair, and so on, can be used. Generally with appropriate treatment, the prognosis of patients is relatively good.
For patients with diastasis recti separation, it is recommended to perform appropriate exercise every day, which is conducive to the recovery of the patient’s body.
