Heimlich Maneuver is a first aid method invented by Henry Heimlich (Heimlich Maneuver) in 1974, which uses residual gas in the lungs to form an airflow to flush out foreign bodies. from 1974 to 1979, more than 3,000 people in the United States used this method to resuscitate choking with great success. With the popularization of Hay’s first aid method, it has expanded from first aid for foreign bodies in the trachea to new areas of first aid for drowning and esophageal choking (there is usually residual gas in the stomach). 1, when the victim is a child, the rescuer can take a sitting position, so that the child’s back is sitting on the rescuer’s lap, and then, the rescuer uses both hands index and middle fingers to squeeze the upper abdomen of the child upwards, and then relax after the pressure. The child can also be placed flat on his back, and then squeezed with the method above. 2.When the victim is standing, the rescuer can stand behind the victim, holding his abdomen from behind, arms around his waist and abdomen, one hand clenched fist, fist pressed inward in the part between the navel and the rib cage; the other hand into a palm cover pressed on top of the fist, both hands sharply and forcefully to squeeze upward, repeatedly until the obstruction is spit out. 3, when the victim is lying on the ground, the rescuer should hold the back of the choke to turn it into supine, riding on the victim’s pelvis or thighs, one hand with the palm root pressed between the navel and the rib cage, the other hand palm covered above the palm, forceful and rapid squeeze, repeatedly to the throat foreign body spit out. 4, when they choke or choking, isolated, with their own fist and the other palm of the hand to poke the abdomen, or use the rounded corner or the back of the chair to quickly squeeze the abdomen. In this case, any blunt-edged object can be used to squeeze the abdomen and make the obstruction expelled.
