Scope of surgical resection for cervical cancer

The scope of surgery for cervical cancer includes removal of the following organs: 1) the uterus, 2) the adnexa, including the uterine ligaments, fallopian tubes and bilateral ovaries, 3) part of the mesentery and the lymph nodes in the pelvis to reduce the possibility of recurrence. Because cervical cancer spreads mainly through blood and lymphatic transmission, these tissues should be removed and the need for chemotherapy should be decided according to the specific situation after the operation, and regular review should be done to know whether there is a possibility of recurrence and to deal with it in time once it recurs.
