Rabies vaccination is safe for pregnant women

  Rabies vaccine and anti-rabies serum are safe for pregnant women. According to a foreign survey report, 202 pregnant women were treated with rabies vaccine and anti-rabies serum after being bitten by rabid dogs, and it was found that the incidence of adverse reactions to vaccination in pregnant women was 18.3%: fever, 13.8% myalgia, 7.3% malaise, 1.8% headache, 1.8% itching at the injection site, 3.7% pain at the injection site, 1.8% erythema at the injection site, 0.9% swelling at the injection site, 1.8% hard nodes at the injection site, and 1.8% local lymph node enlargement. swelling at the injection site 0.9%, hard nodes at the injection site 1.8%, and local lymph node enlargement 1.8%. In addition, a one-year follow-up of 190 pregnant women who were treated with rabies vaccine and anti-rabies serum for rabies bites and 185 infants born alive and compared with infants born to pregnant women who were not bitten by rabies showed that spontaneous abortion was 4.2% in the former and 5.6% in the latter, placenta previa 0.5% and 1.6%, maternal diabetes 1.6% and 1.3%, stillbirth 1.6% and 1.5%, pediatric birth defects 0.5% and 1.0%, low birth weight 2.6% and 9.9%.  The above information shows that when a pregnant woman is bitten by a rabid dog, it is safe for the health of the pregnant woman and the growth and development of the fetus to be treated in accordance with the usual treatment for rabies. Therefore, once a pregnant woman is bitten by a rabid dog, she should quickly take the above-mentioned treatment measures without any concern.
