Xiao Cheng Qi Tang can treat mild cases of heat and fire in the Yang Ming. The original dosage of the formula is four taels of rhubarb, three pieces of Citrus aurantium, and two taels of Hou Pu (厚朴). The rhubarb in Xiao Cheng Qi Tang clears heat and fire (removing heat and fire from the body), and passes stools, while Citrus aurantium can break down qi and eliminate stagnation, and Pogostemon can move qi downward. In ancient times, four taels were used for rhubarb, two taels for thick park, and three for hedgehog, which can now be converted to 12 grams of rhubarb, 9 grams of hedgehog, and 6 grams of thick park, according to the change in the unit of measurement.
