Can asthma be inherited?

Asthma is a genetic trait. The prevalence of asthma in asthmatic families is as high as 20% to 45%. Although asthma does have certain genetic characteristics, it just means that the chances of inheritance will be high, not that if asthma is in the family, the offspring will definitely have asthma. People with a family history of asthma are prone to allergic reactions to various environmental factors. The onset of asthma is related to environmental pollution, diet, medications, climate change, respiratory infections, exposure to allergies, dusty environments, smoking, etc. Triggering factors need to be avoided in life. Genetic factors play a very important role in the development of asthma, but not all people with genetic factors will develop asthma. However, it has been shown that the prevalence of asthma in relatives is higher than in other groups and is directly related to blood, with the closer the blood relationship, the higher the prevalence. If one parent has asthma, the prevalence of asthma in children is approximately 30-40%. If both parents have bronchial asthma, the prevalence is about 70-80%. There is also some heritability across generations. Asthma is a chronic inflammatory disease of the airways and is extremely persistent. There is no cure for this disease, but it can be controlled with standardized treatment and can lead the same life as a normal person.
