How are uterine fibroids treated?

Most tumors are benign and do not need to be treated and can be reviewed regularly. Uterine fibroids are divided into three categories: 1) subplasma fibroids (located on the outer surface of the uterus); 2) interstitial fibroids (within the myometrium); 3) submucosal fibroids (on the inner surface of the uterine cavity). Submucosal fibroids: Since it affects menstruation and pregnancy, regardless of size, early surgery is recommended after detection. Interstitial and subplasmalemmal fibroids: less than 3cm in diameter, regular review is enough, the effect of medicine to eliminate fibroids is not sure, you can eat if you want or not; 3-5cm in diameter, if it causes symptoms such as heavy menstruation, dysmenorrhea or infertility, miscarriage, etc., surgery is recommended, otherwise regular review is enough; greater than 5cm in diameter, the chance of fibroid degeneration increases, surgery is recommended. Postmenopausal women with fibroids: most of them will gradually shrink, and 5cm fibroids in near-menopausal women can be reviewed without immediate surgery. If the fibroids are still growing after menopause, surgery is recommended.
