If one must name a site where a skin soft tissue expander is most suitable for application, it would be the scalp. The scalp is rich in blood flow, has a low flap retraction rate, and is highly efficient in expansion due to the support of the skull. The presence of hair hides the scar of additional incisions very well. Parts of the hair after burns are indeed treated by applying expanders with exact results, high surgical safety and much less expense compared to hair transplantation.
