What is allergic bronchitis

Allergic bronchitis, also known as allergic cough, is characterized by chronic cough.
Allergic bronchitis occurs in children and is characterized by recurrent coughing and phlegm, especially at night and in the morning. If the patient is exposed to allergic substances, the coughing and phlegm symptoms may worsen and even lead to respiratory muscle spasms, resulting in shortness of breath, wheezing, and respiratory distress.
Diagnosis of the disease is based on the patient’s clinical manifestations, laboratory results and physical examination. Bronchodilator test, bronchial irritation test, pulmonary function tests, serologic tests, and allergen tests are helpful in the diagnosis of the disease.
When allergic bronchitis is suspected, patients should go to the Department of Respiratory Medicine of a regular hospital for a clear diagnosis and appropriate treatment plan by a specialized physician.
