The chance of HIV infection is related to the mode of transmission, and different modes of transmission have different chances of infection.
AIDS is a systemic disease caused by the infection of the body with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV), causing various infections and tumors. It is mainly transmitted through sexual transmission, blood transmission and mother-to-child transmission.
1. Sexual transmission: This is the main way of transmission of AIDS. If an uninfected person has unprotected intercourse with a person diagnosed with HIV, the chance of a man being infected with HIV is 0.04%, and the chance of a woman being infected with HIV is 0.08%.
2. Blood Transmission: The risk of HIV infection in an uninfected person who has been infected with HIV-contaminated blood can be as high as 92.5%. If an uninfected person shares the same needle with an HIV-infected person, the chance of infection is 0.63%.
3. Mother-to-child transmission: If the mother is infected with HIV, the chance of infection of the newborn is about 13%~40%.
To summarize, different ways of transmission lead to different chances of getting infected with AIDS. However, AIDS is very dangerous and cannot be cured, so we should not take it lightly just because of the difference in the rate of infection.
